THE BEST IN AOR, MELODIC ROCK AND PROG/SYMPHO |
PULL'AHEAD' (INDEPENDENT) PULL are from New York and their CD 'Ahead' is a very heavy CD that seems to have more in common with METALLICA then our type of music. Still I have to say that they try to play an own style and above all, unlike many other indie bands, PULL has a monstrous production. The beginning of the CD intends to sound very heavy, because songs like "Down", "Brain damage" and "Road rage" are pure 90s Alternative Metal songs with a lot of METALLICA influences. The second part of the CD features a lot more melodic songs. The track "Let me down" is basically a great melodic rocksong (with even keyboards!). Also closing track "Last breath" is a pretty good Hard Rock song with a good melody. These last two mentioned tracks show a very melodic PULL that still sounds heavy, but just much better than the first couple of tracks. Put the two together and you have a very diverse record. Hopefully the next CD will bring some more melodic tunes a la "Let me down" or "Last breath". Nevertheless, this PULL need to be pulled by the fans of heavy 90s metal with a melodic rock influence slipped through in some songs.
